Can You Hear It Now?
The place that I usually visit is Kroger grocery store. I picked this place because it is different from other usual places I visit. I actually wanted to try to use the Library as one of the places. The reason I couldn’t use the Library was I couldn’t get permission from public relations to film there. Then I pondered about it and couldn’t find many sounds that remind me of being at the Library. So, I chose my favorite grocery store. I still had to get permission from their public relations without a problem. When I walk in to Kroger I hear the automatic doors opening up. I pick up a shopping cart and start to roll. The rolling of the shopping cart reminds me of being there as well. As I walk through the different isles and stop by certain areas, I hear different sounds that remind me of being at a certain point in the grocery store. For instance in the deli area I hear the sound of slicing machine, paper wrapping and weighing of goods. When I walk by the vegetables I could hear the water come on and spray the vegies to keep them fresh. In the refrigerant section I hear the humming of refrigerators keeping the milk, cheese and eggs cold. Also, the coolers remind of the similar noise. As I open up the door of a cooler, the refrigeration noise becomes louder. Another noise that reminds me that I am there is the intercom. I walk around the store and listen to the background music playing or a voice would come on stating a sale of something or calling the manager to the front register. The final noise that reminds that I am at the grocery store is the scanning of the goods at the cash register. The beeping sound is the noise that reminds me that I am done shopping and ready to get out of the store and head home. I hear the sound of the doors opening on the way out. As I walk towards my car I hear other cars driving by and maybe some alarms of people opening and closing their cars. This is an interesting project I enjoyed playing around with the video and sounds. Video to follow...
