My Failure

To describe my failure for this semester, I chose not to focus as much on the failure part as on the challenges I faced. I see failure as something I did not accomplish or got totally wrong. So, my biggest challenge came in doing Micro Project 4, Identity and Sound. I faced difficulties in editing short film, compiling sounds for this film, and making it all work together. I had to learn how to edit film in iMovie, EZVid, and MS Movie Maker. I had to learn how to bring in sound to Garage Band and Audacity. I have tried editing sound in another program before, mainly just slicing and cutting out silence and noise. In this project and in using these new programs it was a bit different. I learned a good deal of information while doing this project. I learned how to put different clips together to make a film. I have wanted to learn this for some time now, but had not challenged myself. I learned sound editing in many new ways that I haven’t faced before. I learned the concept of putting a movie together and have much respect for movie editors now. One of my successes was putting the blog together. I actually have wanted to get into blogging a while ago. This class had challenges and I faced them with success. I now know much more about blogging and design. I want to continue blogging, especially my art blog. I have learned a great deal of ideas on different kinds of art form. So, my goal is to continue my art blog and use it as part of my daily activities. I want to continue to capture forms of art and share it on my blog. I think it should be fun, just as my blog name says ‘Art is Fun’.

If I had to do a project over again, I think I would like to have done more editing in Photoshop. So either the mapping project or the small objects projects, I would do a bit different. At least I would spend more time on the editing portion of it. One of my problems is trying to be a perfectionist at everything I do. I think it holds me back sometimes from accomplishing things in a timely manner. In my opinion failure is not a setback. If you fail at something it gives you an opportunity to improve. It helps us to get better at whatever we are trying to accomplish.
